XX+UX is a community of women in UX who support each other by sharing our own stories and inspiring growth at all stages of our careers.

The Story of XX+UX

By google design

User experience design (UX) has exploded in the last few years with a visible and increasing demand for UX at large companies, at small start-ups, and for freelancers. And yet, like tech in general, men are still over-represented in the field.

That’s why we’re excited about XX+UX, a monthly meet-up for women in UX with the goal of fostering greater diversity in the field.

The first XX+UX event was held at Google HQ in October 2013, where attendees created “story cards” that represented their journey into UX. Since then, there’ve been 60+ XX+UX meet-ups around the world. We run monthly events in the Bay Area, Seattle, New York, and Israel and have had numerous international events in London, Sydney, Paris, Toronto, Vancouver and more.

XX+UX is a true community initiative where every event is hosted by a different local company and features something unique about their industry. Our fabulous host partners have included Pinterest, Etsy, Slack, Uber, Airbnb, Medium, IDEO, LinkedIn, Salesforce, Microsoft, YouTube and many more. We’re proud to support this burgeoning, international community of women in design, research, and technology.

In 2015, we launched the XX+UX Mentorship Program. It’s a 3-month program that we run several times a year where we pair mentors and mentees to support each other in career conversations.
