Founded in 2013, the XX+UX Bay Area Chapter is where XX+UX all started! A few UXers at Google were determined to cultivate a community for women in UX across the Bay Area and started partnering with local companies about once a month to host events. Not only that, but we’ve piloted a successful mentorship program and have expanded the program to other chapters including NYC and Seattle.
Each of our events in the Bay Area has a unique theme created in collaboration with the host company and XX+UX to ensure our events have a mix of passive and active learning. We have a lot of maker themed events (creating succulent gardens at Pinterest, or, designing cards that light up at IDEO) as well as topical (negotiation, creative entrepreneurship, empathy).
Current cohort - Summer 2017, San Francisco
Upcoming Cohort - Fall 2017 (Applications open in Sept.)
Our Fall cohorts are targeted at senior-level women in research and design. We follow a co-mentorship model where women meet in small groups throughout the quarter - instead of in a traditional 1-on-1 setting.
